Italian and European Patent and Design Attorney
Filippo graduated in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on LED lighting systems integrated in household appliances developed at Whirlpool Corporation, where he did an internship in the ‘integrated refrigeration platform’.
After graduating, he embarked on a career as a patent attorney, gaining experience in assisting clients from various industries. His clients range from small and medium-sized enterprises to start-ups, from large international companies to universities. Filippo has gained excellent IP skills in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, prior art searches, patentability and freedom-to-use analyses, both nationally and internationally. He has also gained experience in opposition proceedings at the EPO both as opposing counsel and as counsel to the applicant.
Filippo has also gained experience as a party technical expert in patent, copyright and trade secret infringement matters, with a focus on cases involving electronics, computer systems and software.
Thanks to his academic background, Filippo is particularly experienced in the field of electronics, from integrated circuits to complete electronic devices. Moreover, in the course of his work as a patent attorney, he has had the opportunity to expand his expertise to various fields, in particular telecommunications networks, computer systems, household appliances, industrial plants and mechanical devices. Recently, he has broadened his range of expertise by focusing on Computer-Implemented Inventions, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and Distributed Ledger Technologies.
Filippo Caruti is a qualified Italian and European Patent and Design Attorney representing clients in patent and design matters before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), the European Industrial Property Office (EUIPO), the International Industrial Property Office (WIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). He is also authorised to represent clients before the Unitary Patent Court (UPC).
