Italian and European Patent and Design Attorney
Silvia graduated in electronic engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan (Italy), specializing in the field of microelectronics and working on her final thesis at the Istitut für Technische Elektronik of the university RWTH Aachen (Germany). She also attended a post-degree course in economic science at the RWTH Aachen (Germany), gaining final degrees both as electronic and management engineer.
She started her career as a patent attorney after work experience in a company in the data communication sector. Her excellent skills in IP matters and her considerable experience in obtaining patents and defending and opposing them in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office have been built by supporting clients globally, both in the fields of electronics and mechanics.
She regularly appears in nullity and infringement suits before the Italian Courts and has built an extensive know-how in advising clients and drafting opinions on non-contentious and contentious IP matters, strengthened through an extensive collaboration with a renown international law firm of the IP sector.
Silvia was admitted to the Italian Patent Attorney bar in 2006 and to the European Patent Attorney bar in 2008, thereby being today authorized to represent clients in patent and design matters before the Italian Patent and Trademarks Office (UIBM), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). In 2016, she obtained the necessary qualifications to be entitled to represent parties before the UPC and is now officially listed as UPC representative.
She was a lecturer in a preparatory course for the Italian patent and trademark attorney exam. Since 2020 she is an appointed member of the EPO Examination Commitee for the European Qualifying Examination (EQE-ECIII).
