Antonio Di Bernardo

PRESIDENT - Founding partner - Italian and European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorney

An electronics engineer with a background in mathematical physics, he graduated from the Politecnico di Milano with a thesis on lasers that saw him collaborate with the department of plasma physics at the Università Statale di Milano and the Université Paris Sud in Paris.

He embarked on a career as a consultant in industrial property after a period working in a company in the installation of mobile networks and telecommunications exchanges. His university education and work experience led him to specialise in software, telecommunications and physics patents, although he also worked for years with leading companies in the household appliances sector, successfully drafting and defending mechanical patents.

For years he has been advising leading law firms to which he gives support in litigation concerning:
– intellectual property rights (in particular on patents, trademarks, design, copyright, sui generis rights)
– civil cases relating to telecommunications networks
– civil and criminal cases concerning software

Over the years, he has also worked as a judge’s technical consultant in patent and software cases (computer forensics), analysing the content of databases and software written in different programming languages.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Milan has also turned to him for expert opinions on trademarks, designs and patents.

He has handled major transactions involving industrial property rights, gaining experience in due diligence, economic valuation of patents and trademarks, and transcription of assignments and pledges involving trademarks, patents and other IP titles.

He is now an Italian and European patent and trademark attorney and is qualified to represent clients in trade mark, patent and design matters before the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM), the European Industrial Property Office (EUIPO), the International Industrial Property Office (WIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). He is also qualified to represent clients before the Unitary Patent Court (UPC).

He is co-author of:
